Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
hmm? is committed to making tryhmm.com accessible to everyone, including people who use assistive technologies. We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the broadly accepted standard for digital accessibility compliance.
Current conformance status
tryhmm.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some content does not fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to identify and resolve gaps.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, you may encounter the following issues on our site. We are working to address each of them:
- Translation textarea: The main input on the translate page relies on placeholder text to communicate its purpose. A visible label will be added.
- Focus indicators: Some interactive elements may not display a sufficiently visible focus ring in all browsers. We are auditing and improving keyboard focus styles across the site.
- Icon buttons: Some icon-only controls may not have descriptive labels for screen reader users. We are reviewing all interactive elements.
- Third-party content: Some embedded content or third-party components (such as payment flows) may not meet the same accessibility standard. We are working with our providers to improve this.
Technical approach
We use the following practices to support accessibility:
- Semantic HTML5 elements for structure and landmarks
- ARIA labels and roles where native semantics are insufficient
- Sufficient color contrast for text and interactive elements
- Keyboard navigability for all interactive components
- Alternative text for informational images
- Responsive layout that supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content
Supported assistive technologies
We aim to support the following combinations:
- NVDA with Chrome on Windows
- VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS
- TalkBack with Chrome on Android
- Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
